1955 Fender Deluxe 5D3 (Re-Tolexed)
INSPECTED & RESTORED BY OUR AMP TECH
This amp came to us in a large collection in very poor condition, missing its tolex completely. We set out on a 10 month journey to restore it to be not only vintage-beautiful, but also functional. The project is finally complete and another tweed has been saved - its ready for its new home!
Tech Notes: This 1955 Fender tweed amp was restored in late April 2022 under Ish Guitars supervision to the best performance and safety possible. This amp when received on my workbench already had some work done on the chassis. The power cord replaced with a hospital grade type AC power cord and electrolytic capacitors had been replaced with high quality F&T brand capacitors.
Where I began was to clean the ground switch and install an appropriate chassis ground capacitor. Four of the leaky signal coupling capacitors were replaced with 1950's types and six noisy off value carbon resistors with period equivalent resistors. Corroded ground connections were cleaned, treated and secured. Preamp tubes were selected from used old stock tubes for the best possible performance. The unit wave and guitar tested and found to be superb!
Unit comes with the original capacitors, and carbon resistors that needed to be replaced.
Professionally Re-Tolexed and aged in a period correct style using NOS original Fender tweed by the best in Upstate NY.
Grill cloth replaced with a Mojotone "Fender Style Old Brown" cotton fabric cover. (https://www.mojotone.com/Fender-Style-Old-Brown-Grill-Cloth-53-W)
Exact match, Jensen 12" P12r, a new generation replacement for the stock speaker. (https://www.jensentone.com/vintage-alnico/p12r)
New speaker cable hand made in-house with Neutrik Gold Connector and vintage style wire. We are unsure if the transformers are original.
